An official remix of "Kossa Kossa" by Ottawa's mightiest soul outfit, The Souljazz Orchestra; a cut from their massive new record "Resistance". This remix is released exclusively on 10' vinyl courtesy of Memeplex Records, celebrating 10 years of TIMEKODE in the Ottawa.

From The Souljazz Orchestra: "Kossa Kossa" was inspired by late 70s/early 80s West African disco and boogie music. "Kossa" was initially a type of Duala dance in Cameroon, which later became "Makossa", the style popularized by Manu Dibango, but we really flipped the genre around and made it our own. It's probably the Souljazz tune with the most "electronic" elements ever, since we used an old analog monosynth and a Roland 808 drum machine for the first time, along with our usual acoustic instruments."

From TIMEKODE: "For this song we really picked up the tempo a lot from the original to take it from the disco/boogie world and give it more of a house / broken-beat feeling. We also brought the full palette of sampled and synthesized drums and bass to give the SJO a boom and rattle that only drum machines can provide. Leaning heavily on the original parts, this remix takes the song and the listener on a journey from a club in West Africa on a Saturday night, to an after-hours in the UK on Sunday morning, and back."
